Planning your wedding is a wonderful and sometimes daunting whirlwind of activity! And while picking out everything from flowers to dresses is important and fun, the most important part of your day is your service. You might prefer anything from a simple, quiet ceremony to a large, robust event, but what ever you chose, chose with your heart.
Woodland Weddings specializes in outdoor weddings in beautiful locations. We also provide services in traditional locations, such as churches or chapels, banquet halls, historic homes, and your home. You might rather choose to have just the two of you for a small, intimate service.
There are many types of ceremonies that celebrate your commitment to each other. Of course, a traditional Church or Chapel wedding is the dream of many. You may have cultural preferences, choosing to add elements symbolizing and/or incorporating other beliefs. One such service is an ancient Celtic ceremony called Handfasting--or tying the knot! Beautiful ribbons are used to symbolize the many aspects of your love. Other services include unity symbols, such as candles, sand, wine, or the breaking of bread. You might wish to blend several of these together, to create your own unique service.
You might choose to start from scratch and entirely write your own service~~as long as you declare your intent to one another, you may choose the words, songs, or poetry, that have special meanings for you. Your family and friends can help as readers, sharing parts of the ceremony with you. You might wish to include your children in the service, as you commit to creating a new family together.
As you begin planning your special wedding day, the officiant should be one of your first considerations.
Marianne Duvendack is an ordained Minister and Elder and is licensed by the State of Ohio to perform weddings. She will listen to your needs, both spiritual and practical, to assure that the promises you make to one another are meaningful. If you are a person of faith, but without a church or temple home, or if your spirituality takes you to the woods as your sanctuary, Marianne will help to craft your ceremony to meet your unique needs and to create a ceremony that will give your lives together a wonderful start.
